Eric Robles, the showrunner for Tales from ’85, recently discussed with MovieWeb how the show’s storyline connects to the established series canon—or if it connects at all. When asked directly if the show is considered official canon, Robles explained:
It’s hard to believe now, but when Escape from New York came out in 1981, nobody thought of Kurt Russell as a tough guy! Most of us remembered him as that funny actor from Disney movies like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. But playing Snake Plissken totally changed things for him, and it paved the way for some amazing roles in films like The Thing. It really launched his career into a whole new level.
Next year, Warner Bros. will release a new movie called The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum in U.S. cinemas. Andy Serkis, famous for playing Gollum in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, is directing the movie and will return as the character of Gollum.

As a big Stephen King fan, I’ve always found Cujo to be particularly chilling. It’s based on his 1981 novel and tells the story of Cujo, this huge, normally friendly Saint Bernard who gets bitten by a rabid bat. Things quickly go downhill, and he starts terrorizing the town of Castle Rock, Maine, attacking anyone and everyone – even people he used to love. The story really ramps up when a woman and her young son are stranded at a repair shop and Cujo traps them inside their car. It becomes a desperate fight for survival as they’re stuck in the sweltering heat, with Cujo circling and hunting them from outside.
