Classic TV shows often presented optimistic futures and simple solutions, but Battlestar Galactica stood out by focusing on political conflict and the complexities of human nature. It proved that science fiction could be a realistic and gripping political thriller, raising the standard for the genre. Today’s realistic space stories wouldn’t exist as they do without the groundwork laid by this show, and many owe it a great deal.

Created by Dan Fogelman, the sci-fi thriller Paradise first aired in January 2025 and immediately won over both critics and audiences. Radioactive Emergency is a five-part series based on the true story of a radioactive contamination event that happened in Brazil in 1987. It details everything from the initial contamination to the large-scale emergency response, sharing an important historical event that still feels impactful today.

It’s surprising to think that Star Trek: The Original Series only ran from 1966 to 1969. The franchise didn’t return to television until The Animated Series in 1973, which lasted just two seasons. Then, after another 14 years, Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered in 1987 and enjoyed a successful run of seven seasons.
