I’m a huge fan of Gina Yashere, and she’s absolutely brilliant as Commander Lura Thok in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy! Lura is such a fascinating character – she’s the First Officer of the USS Athena and really puts the cadets in their place as the Cadet Master at the Academy. What’s so cool is that she’s a unique mix – half-Klingon from her mom and half-Jem’Hadar from her dad. While she can be pretty intimidating, I loved seeing a more vulnerable side of her revealed in episode 3. It really adds depth to the character!

Nicholas Galitzine will play He-Man in the new Masters of the Universe movie, a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios. Amazon MGM Studios announced a short preview trailer on January 21st with the message, “When times were simpler… Teaser Trailer Tomorrow!”

According to FlixPatrol, Mark Wahlberg’s movie Infinite is currently the seventh most popular title on Pluto TV in the U.S. It’s unclear why the film is seeing a surge in popularity, but it may have been recently added to Pluto TV in January.

Janelle James kicked off the year with a Critics Choice Award nomination alongside her Abbott Elementary costar, Chris Perfetti, and this time, she won! It was her first win after being nominated four times in a row for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy. While her award season was bright, her character, Ava, had a rocky start to the year in the show, forced to cut her winter break short and reopen the school inside a mall. James recently shared how she first reacted to this unexpected storyline.

Let me clarify something about Anya Taylor-Joy’s character in Josie Rourke’s upcoming film. Rourke herself calls Undine Spragg, from Edith Wharton’s ‘The Custom of the Country,’ the “Original Dangerous Woman.” And after reading the press release, I can see why. Undine isn’t just beautiful; she’s incredibly driven, fearless, and willing to shake things up to get what she wants. She actively challenges the established upper class, and the story suggests she’ll ultimately find both love and success on her own terms. It sounds like a fascinating, potentially explosive role for Taylor-Joy.

Critics haven’t been kind to the new movie Return to Silent Hill, giving it a very low 7% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This is based on 15 reviews so far, and the score could change as more come in. We’ll have to wait and see what audiences think – a score from viewers isn’t available yet, but should be soon after the film hits theaters on January 23rd.
