Though he might depart from Paramount in the future, remains a major force in streaming, with the Season 2 finale of achieving record viewership on Paramount+.
The show Landman launched on November 16, 2025, and quickly drew 9.2 million viewers within its first two days – the highest number ever for a Paramount+ series. This was a huge jump of 262% compared to the debut of its first season, which was also a record-breaker. Despite criticism of the show’s plot, characters, and lack of focus on the oil business side of things, the Season 2 finale still achieved massive viewership numbers, marking another record for the series.
The second season of Landman concluded on January 18th and quickly attracted 14.8 million viewers within just two days. This represents a significant 70% jump in viewership compared to the Season 1 finale, making it the most-watched original series finale ever on Paramount+. Throughout the entire season, Episodes 1 through 9 averaged a 58% increase in views during their first week compared to Season 1.
‘Landman’ Season 3 Begins Filming Soon

Paramount+
Just after the second season of Landman premiered, Paramount+ renewed the show for a third season. Filming for the new episodes will start in the spring, and they’re expected to be available to stream later in the year.
The second season of the show concluded with major shifts at T-Mex Oil, most notably the removal of Billy Bob Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, as president. While he’s no longer in charge of the company, Thornton will still appear on the show, despite reports suggesting his character would be written off.
Thornton recently addressed rumors about his departure from the show and a supposed relationship with Demi, both sparked by AI-generated stories. He told USA Today that these reports are completely false and confirmed he will return for Season 3 as Tommy Norris.
Despite some viewer complaints, Season 2 of Landman has been very popular, making it unlikely the show will end after the next season. However, Taylor Sheridan’s future with NBCUniversal, combined with the fact that he’s the only writer for Landman, leaves the show’s long-term fate uncertain.

There’s a rumor that Taylor Sheridan’s show, Mayor of Kingstown, will end after season five, despite Sheridan wanting it to continue. We’ve reached out to confirm this, but haven’t heard back yet. If the rumor is true, the fate of Sheridan’s new show, Landman, might depend on his relationship with Paramount executives, not just how well the show performs.
You can now watch both seasons of Landman on Paramount+, and it’s currently the most popular show on the platform in the US.
