The 2019 racing movie, Ford v Ferrari, which starred those two actors and was directed by James Mangold, is now available on Netflix. As of January 2, 2026, it’s quickly become popular, landing at number 5 on the list of the top 10 movies in the U.S.

This could significantly hurt traditional cinemas, as audiences might choose to wait just over two weeks to watch the movie on Netflix instead of going to theaters. Currently, most movies play in theaters for between 30 and 45 days, with digital rental and purchase options usually available before streaming. However, Netflix would likely skip those digital options and release films directly to its streaming service after the 17-day theatrical run.
