As a huge cinema fan, I’ve noticed something really interesting about Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man Noir. He’s played this version of the character – Peter Parker – in the Spider-Verse films already. It seems like they’ve tweaked the live-action portrayal, maybe to keep things separate from the other Peter Parkers we’ve seen, like Tom Holland’s. But lately, Spider-Noir has been acting in ways that remind me a lot of Tobey Maguire’s classic, more grounded take on the character – it’s a fun little nod to that era!

Jason Statham stars as a man with amnesia – he has no memories, no history, and doesn’t even know his own name. The only exception is a woman named Eliza, whose face he can’t shake. As his memories slowly return, he realizes he was specially trained for a dangerous mission that’s still underway, and now, the people who sent him are hunting him. With his enemies closing in, he must decide whether to complete the mission or protect Eliza, the one person who gives his life meaning.

HBO Max has a fantastic selection of sci-fi movies, including recent theatrical releases. You’ll find acclaimed films like Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Dune: Part Two, as well as Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and Inception, among many other great titles. Sci-fi fans will definitely enjoy what the streaming service has to offer.
