In Season 3 of Tracker, Colter Shaw focuses on protecting a key member of his team: his lawyer, Reenie Green (Fiona Rene). Reenie has been with the show since the beginning, in Season 1, and is the only original person still working with Colter on missing persons cases after several characters have left the series.
Although Tracker is still a popular show on network television, it recently lost its position as the most-watched series to Marshals, the sequel to Yellowstone, which is now the most popular show overall, including both broadcast and streaming platforms. However, Tracker is planning some changes for its fourth season, with a storyline centered around the character Reenie Green in an episode called “Chain of Custody.”
Reenie Finally Uses A Firearm In Tracker Season 3, Episode 19, “Chain of Custody”
Episode 19 focuses on Reenie Green as she accompanies Colter while he searches for Kurtis Lauper, a crucial witness in Reenie and Maxine’s legal case against Prader and Rockwell Properties Group. Just before Kurtis is scheduled to testify, he disappears, prompting Reenie to ask Shaw to find him.
As a fan, I was shocked to learn Kurtis’ vanishing was actually tied to the lawsuit against Prader and Rockwell! It turned out Reenie and Maxine discovered their lawyer had connections to the same firm as Kurtis’ kidnapper, and even that creepy surveillance footage was sent to their office. But even after finally resolving the case, the episode ended on a surprisingly hopeful note – Colter finally showed Reenie how to use the gun she bought. It felt like a small victory after everything she’d been through.
After feeling like she was being watched, Reenie buys a gun from a nearby store. Though several conflicts occur surrounding Kurtis’ disappearance, she never actually uses the gun. In the final scene of Episode 19, Colter assists her in learning how to use it, and Reenie confides in him.
Reenie shares with Kurtis and Colter that she used to be a criminal, explaining she was once arrested for stealing a pricey Chanel bag. While Colter coaches her, Reenie opens up about her childhood. Even though she expresses doubts about continuing, Shaw encourages her to keep practicing, and she starts to shoot better.
How Reenie’s Story Changes Tracker Season 4
Reenie is hesitant to use the weapon, but Colter urges her to practice shooting, believing she needs to be able to protect herself. Although she initially joined him as his lawyer, Reenie has been on missions with Colter and has faced dangerous criminals several times, leading to a critical point in the story.
In the 19th episode of Tracker Season 2, titled “Rules of the Game,” Reenie finds herself in increasing danger as her connections pull her into a conflict between her boss, Leo Sharf (Pej Vahdat), and a rival company. She’s kidnapped and threatened with a gun, but Colter manages to save her. However, the incident has significant consequences for Green, which will be explored further in Season 3.
Throughout the third season of Tracker, Reenie has been acting differently – she’s been going out late and avoiding discussions about her well-being. Her decision to start boxing suggests she feels she needs to defend herself, and this shift in behavior is actually setting the stage for the bigger issues the show will explore.
With the current season of Tracker nearing its end, Green’s choices are creating anticipation for what’s to come. The show has been increasingly featuring its supporting characters, such as Randy, and preparing Reenie to handle herself will likely allow her to work alongside Colter more often, potentially revitalizing the series and keeping it fresh.
