In the realm of One Chicago, I’ve found myself bearing witness to a steady departure of familiar faces, and this time, it’s my beloved Chicago P.D. that is bidding farewell to one of its pivotal characters.
Toya Turner revealed on June 26th that she won’t be returning to play the character Kiana in season 13.
She shared on Instagram that her tenure on Chicago P.D. has ended. This series pushed me, honed my skills, and showed me my true mettle. I’ve grown through this journey, not just as an actress but also in my craft, and I’m leaving with newfound understanding, focus, and drive for whatever lies ahead.
As Turner, the 35-year-old lifestyle enthusiast, I recently took a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who stood by me throughout my journey on that beloved NBC series. It was just one season ago that I became a part of the main cast, and your unwavering support has made every moment truly special.
To the team behind the scenes: I want to express my gratitude for the camaraderie, joy, and kindness you provided each day, it truly made a difference. Working alongside such exceptional talent was an incredible experience. And to the ChiHards: thank you for your warm welcome, unwavering support, and showing love to Kiana.
To the cast and crew: I’m so grateful for the friendship, laughter, and generosity that filled our days. It was a privilege to act alongside such talent. To the ChiHards: thank you for making me feel welcome, cheering me on, and showering Kiana with love.
Turner stated: “To all those who believe in me, I want you to know that your faith is priceless. I’m thrilled about the prospects on the horizon.

No particular cause for Turner’s exit was disclosed, as reported by Deadline on Thursday. Meanwhile, the team is actively casting for a fresh female series regular who would portray an unpredictable ATF Task Force officer with a military past.
Previously, Showrunner Gwen Sigan acknowledged that Turner’s character brought a “completely new” aspect to the series. As a seasoned police officer, she is accustomed to the force and demonstrates proficiency in her role, as Sigan explained to TVLine earlier this year: “She knows her way around, and she knows what she’s doing.
Before announcing her exit, Turner shared highlights from her Chicago P.D. experience.
Turner posted on Instagram a week before his departure that “I never expected this audition to be the one to lead me back home, but it was. This self-tape landed me as a series regular on Chicago P.D.” He added, “Don’t give up, fellow actors, because the right opportunity can completely transform your life.
Turner is among several actors in the One Chicago series whose characters have brief tenures. The interconnected world – encompassing shows like Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. – frequently sees a rotation of performers joining and departing from each program.
In response to viewer apprehensions, Jeff Bader, the head of programming at NBC, defended the choices made during the casting process.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that sentence as follows: “Each year, we see new faces joining our cast, and old ones moving on. It’s intriguing because every year, there are whispers about the behind-the-scenes happenings in the One Chicago universe. Yet, these shows continue to thrive.
Bader pointed out that every Chicago performance has continued to thrive, and he expressed his joy by saying, “We’re overjoyed with the success of our Wednesday performances in Chicago. Currently, we don’t foresee any changes for that particular day.
