Chris Hemsworth, known for his roles in blockbuster films, has found success on Netflix with the action franchise Extraction. Working again with directors Joe and Anthony Russo (who previously collaborated with him on Marvel movies), Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake, a skilled mercenary who undertakes dangerous rescue missions across the globe. Extraction quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular original series, and now a new installment is on the way to continue the thrilling story.
Netflix announced in April 2026 that a third Extraction movie was in the works, and fans immediately revisited the first two films on the platform. Extraction 2 had already brought back Chris Hemsworth’s character, Tyler Rake, after a dramatic near-death experience, leaving viewers wondering how the story would continue. Although specific details are still secret, some new information is starting to emerge about the future of this popular action series.
Chris Hemsworth is officially returning as Tyler Rake in Extraction 3, a new deal with Netflix and AGBO confirms, according to Deadline. Sam Hargrave will direct again, having led the first two films, and Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani will reprise their roles as Alcott and Nik Khan, respectively. Production is set to begin this summer, with David Well writing the script based on a story developed by Joe Russo for the previous installments.
