Chyler Leigh and Nathan West’s marriage has flatlined.

The former Grey’s Anatomy star recently revealed that she and her husband, Nathan, whom she married in 2002, have separated privately.

Chyler shared that she and her partner had separated while on the Books That Changed My Life podcast. She didn’t say exactly when they split, but revealed it when host Chris Collins asked her about a time she’d needed to reach out for support.

You know, after 26 years with someone, it’s incredibly tough, but sometimes you just reach a point where it’s time to move on. That’s where I was with my ex. It wasn’t an easy decision, especially after so long, but I realized it was time to let go and start a new chapter.

I was so sad to hear about Chyler and her husband separating, but thankfully, they’ve said it’s all very amicable. They’re committed to raising their three amazing kids – Noah, who’s 23, Taelyn, 19, and Anniston, 17 – together, and that’s what really matters. It’s good to see they’re prioritizing their children even through this change.

We tried everything we could, but we reached a point where our goals and desires just didn’t align anymore. I’d rather we stay friendly and avoid any bitterness or anger – it’s simply not worth the strain.

She explained that they had grown increasingly incompatible, to the point where even their children noticed the tension. This difference, she said, was changing the atmosphere and overall feeling of their family life.

 

Chyler shared how much fun she and her kids had, thanking Disney for making her daughter’s sixteenth birthday incredibly special. She also gave a special shout-out to their tour guide, Frank, calling Disney “the happiest place on Earth.”

The couple’s relationship began to suffer because of separate, difficult experiences from their pasts – what she called ‘family trauma’ – that they had both gone through.

She explained that they were simply continuing the same pattern. It became clear they needed to choose a different path and make a firm decision.

Chyler and Nathan first met in 1999 while auditioning for a television pilot, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. They married three years later.

Chyler generally prefers to keep her private life private, including on social media. However, in May 2025, she shared a glimpse of her family celebrating her daughter Anniston’s sixteenth birthday at Disney World.

Chyler shared a post expressing how much fun she and her kids had recently. She thanked Disney for making her daughter’s 16th birthday incredibly special, exceeding all her expectations. She also gave a special shout-out to their tour guide, Frank, calling Disney ‘the happiest place on Earth.’
