Warner Bros.’ DC movies seem to be consistently improving, and the new trailer for Clayface is particularly exciting as it marks the character’s first appearance on the big screen.
A mysterious being made of living clay terrorizes Gotham City, sometimes fighting alongside Batman and other times against him. Over time, several different people, each with a tragic past, have become this shape-shifting villain known as Clayface.
Behind The Clayface trailer…..
I’m really excited about this new DC film! It’s co-written by Mike Flanagan, who’s amazing at adapting Stephen King, and he’s bringing that same skill to the DC universe. He’s actually drawing inspiration from the classic Batman: The Animated Series episodes featuring Clayface – those episodes were fantastic! It was originally planned to fit into the old DCEU and even potentially connect to Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, but now it’s part of the new DC Universe. Sadly, Flanagan couldn’t direct due to his work on The Exorcist reboot, but James Watkins is taking the helm, and he’s a fantastic director when it comes to horror – check out Eden Lake if you haven’t! He knows how to create genuinely scary moments, so I have high hopes for this movie.
There were rumors that Daniel Radcliffe might play Clayface, but director James Gunn has confirmed he was never a candidate. Instead, the role was considered for George Mackay, Tom Blyth, Jack O’Connell, and Leo Woodall before Tom Rhys Harries was ultimately cast.
Clayface will be released on 11th September in the UK and 23rd October in the US
