The action platformer RUBATO, where you run and collect items as you move sideways, will be released on March 20th for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). This was announced by publishers Headcannon and dconn, who also developed the game.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
RUBATO is an experimental, 2D physics-based take on the collect-a-thon genre!
It’s the year 12,012. For centuries, the incredibly wealthy and powerful GSSAI CO. has controlled the universe, ever since a devastating bioweapon nearly wiped out humanity. Now, the solar system itself has been destroyed by a mysterious force. Meanwhile, a secret weapons program run by GSSAI CO.’s Earth division is moving forward quickly, and people are vanishing all over the world.
That is until one man screws up a game of pool.
Key Features
- Hero of the Stars and the Sky – Use your tongue to lick enemies and objects as you make your way through open Metroidvania-like areas, whilst collecting “Planet Bits” to help fix the solar system!
- Welcome to Rubato World – Five compact, densely packed areas ranging from a huge sprawling bakery to the world’s most poorly planned city. Uncover secrets and shortcuts in every corner of the world.
- If I Could Only Love – A strange, funny plot with a deep focus on humour and character writing. It gets silly. It gets serious. Really concerningly serious. Uh. Is the guy who made this game okay..?
- But First, Love Yourself – To save the world, you must save yourself first. Find yourself again.
