Remedy Entertainment hasn’t announced when Control Resonant will be released, but they’ve shared details about what happens after you finish the main game. According to lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov, your progress carries over – things like character upgrades, abilities, and collected Artifacts will all still be there when you start the new content.
Traversal abilities are an exception, as they’re connected to the story, but New Game Plus offers more than just harder battles. According to Mohov, the goal is to let players try out different character builds they couldn’t during their first playthrough, because you can’t unlock everything at once.
One way to add variety is through new talent nodes. It’s also great that you can equip several abilities gained from bosses – probably the Resonants. Plus, you can unlock a fourth slot for Artifacts, which provide helpful passive bonuses for exploring, gathering resources, and more, though they may come with certain requirements or drawbacks.
Players can find and create Artifacts within Dylan’s mind, known as the Gap. These powerful items will be essential to overcome challenges in a dramatically changed world.
As you progress, enemies become tougher and fights change, even ones you’ve already won. Some bosses will even exhibit new behaviors, forcing you to adapt your tactics. A battle you previously mastered might require a completely different strategy the next time around. Considering the Hiss and Mold are already more challenging than before, it makes you wonder how Remedy will continue to raise the stakes.
World Quests, bounties, collectibles, and side quests will return, and this time, side quests can have multiple endings. At the very least, New Game Plus allows you to explore those different possibilities.
Control Resonant is launching on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. You can find more information about how this new installment builds on the original game while also offering a unique experience here.
