A legal thriller originally released in 2025 has become a global hit after finding a new audience on Netflix. The Indian legal drama Haq is based on the real-life case of Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum. This case was significant in 1980s India because the Supreme Court ruled that a Muslim woman who was divorced by her husband under Islamic law was entitled to financial support.
