Coronation Street airs major Tyrone Dobbs and Carl Webster development in early ITVX release

Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) has made a mammoth decision in Coronation Street.

He’s been feeling incredibly guilty for weeks about Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) being in jail. She was the main suspect in the investigation of Theo Silverton’s murder, but she insisted she was innocent and said Tyrone could confirm her alibi.

When Detective Sergeant Lisa Connor-Swain visited, he told her he’d been at her wedding all night and hadn’t seen Summer.

Later, a flashback revealed he’d left Websters’ Autocentre and noticed Summer near the corner shop. He also saw Theo (James Cartwright) standing in an upstairs window.

He kept silent to protect himself. He’d just witnessed Carl Webster trying to sabotage his uncle Kevin’s car and, while recording it, had fallen over.

Tyrone tried to regain his balance, but accidentally knocked over the car jack, causing the car to fall onto Carl.

It became apparent last week that Carl was wary of Tyrone, particularly after overhearing him secretly tell Ronnie Bailey to not say anything.

Today, Carl shared that he’s been having vivid memories of the night he was hurt, and he remembers it happening in the garage. Meanwhile, Tyrone felt increasingly guilty, especially when thinking about Summer and her desperate attempt to get out of prison by intentionally being admitted to the hospital.

He confided in his wife, Fiz, sharing all the details of what happened the night Theo died. Fiz urged him to give his phone to the police, believing it would demonstrate that Summer didn’t commit murder.

Before leaving for the station, he found Carl and admitted he’d caused the rush. Carl was understandably angry, but Ty explained it was an accident. He also warned Carl that the police might interpret his actions – specifically, cutting Kevin’s brake line – as attempted murder.

While on their way to the police station, Tyrone and Fiz ran into Gary Windass and updated him on the situation.

Gary looked visibly sheepish at the thought of the spotlight turning towards him again.

Is he responsible for Theo’s demise?

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 or can be streamed from 7am on ITVX.
