Marvel’s Wolverine’s Accessibility Options Detailed, Includes Gameplay Assists and Visual Options

Following the recent gameplay reveal of Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games has detailed the accessibility features players can expect when the game launches on PS5 on September 15th. These features will be included with the game either on the disc or as part of a day-one update.

Marvel’s Wolverine will offer a remarkably comprehensive range of accessibility features, organized into categories like Gameplay Assistance, Motion Sensitivity, Visual and Audio Support, High Contrast modes, customizable Violence settings, and options for Subtitles, Captions, Controller layouts and more.

As a gamer, I’m really excited about the gameplay assist options they’re adding! Basically, you’ll be able to pick a difficulty preset, but then customize it even further. You can tweak things like how easily enemies spot you when you’re trying to be sneaky, how tough they are, and how much damage they dish out. Plus, if you struggle with quick-time events, you can turn on auto-completion. They’re also adding options to hold the UI in place, and you can even choose whether or not to use the DualSense touchpad during fights. It’s cool to see so much flexibility to tailor the experience to your skill level.

As a fan, I’m really excited about the new Motion Sensitivity settings! It looks like we’ll have a ton of control over how the game looks, with options to tweak things like motion blur, film grain, and depth of field. Plus, we can even customize the screen effects! There’s also a cool feature where you can adjust a little dot in the center of the screen – you can change its size, color, and how see-through it is, which should help keep your focus. And even better, these settings work with the existing Visual Assists, so players can customize colors for things like dodging, recognizing threats, and timing parries. It’s awesome to see so much accessibility being built in!

To make the game easier to see, we’re adding several visual presets in the High Contrast Options. Players will also be able to customize things further by adding clear, solid-colored outlines to characters and enemies, and adjusting shaders for better visibility. For those who prefer audio cues, we’re including features like voice amplification, screen reader compatibility, audio descriptions, customizable frequency settings, and mono audio support.

Marvel’s Wolverine will offer a lot of customization for your controller. You’ll be able to completely change the button layout, and the game will even include some pre-set options to get you started. Players can also adjust the D-pad shortcuts and fine-tune how the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers feel, controlling both how much force is needed and the tension.

Building on recent statements about the level of gore in Marvel’s Wolverine, the game will feature a dedicated Violence Customization section in the options menu. This will let players adjust things like the amount of blood and dismemberment shown, and even control the visibility of visual effects related to Logan’s healing factor.

The new gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine showed off a lot of exciting action, including Wolverine fighting both large groups of enemies and powerful single opponents. The trailer also demonstrated how his healing ability functions during and outside of battles. We even saw a glimpse of Wolverine teaming up with Jean Grey, who uses her telepathy to help in combat.

Insomniac Games has revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine will be a story-driven game with a set path, taking Logan on an adventure around the world. The game’s pacing will be inspired by the way stories unfold in comic books.
