Many of you have expressed a desire for more story-driven, single-player games from Sony, and Marvel’s Wolverine is planned to deliver just that later this year.
While previous Spider-Man games let you freely explore a vast New York City, this new game from Insomniac Games is different – it doesn’t have an open world.
In fact, according to Game Director Mike Daly, that was never the intention from the start.
He told IGN:
We didn’t initially aim to create an open-world or sandbox game. Our goal was a fast-paced, exciting, story-driven, single-player adventure, and the missions are designed to deliver that experience.
Daly explained the rollout was fast-paced and international, like something out of a comic book. He compared the experience to a rollercoaster – exciting and captivating from start to finish.
The recent trailer clearly showed Logan fighting with Jean Grey, and then pursuing trucks on a motorcycle.
Although the game follows a set story, you’ll have choices in how you handle battles. You can choose to be stealthy, for example, or use other approaches.
He explained:
The game offers various ways to approach each area. You can choose to play stealthily, go straight into battle, or explore the environment to discover hidden items and optional content.
This new game seems like it will be very different from the Spider-Man games. It will focus more on exciting fights and impressive visuals, rather than swinging around and discovering things.
I really enjoyed the PS3 game X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and this new game feels similar in how it’s structured.
I’m hoping Sony’s new game will be a thrilling and intense experience, and I can’t wait to play it.
