Coronation Street airs tragedy for Debbie Webster after sentencing in early ITVX release

Debbie Webster (played by Sue Devaney) is in a difficult situation on Coronation Street. She’s been sent to prison for causing a fatal accident while driving dangerously, even though she wasn’t actually at fault.

Wicked Carl (Jonathan Howard) forced the strong man into the driver’s seat, and even though Debbie knew it wasn’t her fault, she chose to accept responsibility.

Many people have been harshly criticizing Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), blaming her actions for the death of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank).

Viewers wondered for weeks why she was so determined to protect the man she called her ‘brother’. The truth eventually came out: she was actually his mother, but had let her own parents raise him as their son.

After learning his dementia might get worse due to potential imprisonment, and feeling deeply remorseful, Carl decided it was time to confess his mistakes earlier this week.

Debbie turned the tables on him by revealing who she really was, which completely shocked him. He angrily told her she deserved to be in prison for life, and made it clear he wouldn’t confess to anything, nor would he ever come to visit her.

Just before her court appearance, Debbie was shocked to discover Carl’s key to her apartment at the Chariot Square Hotel. Realizing she couldn’t go through with it alone, she hurried to find him, only to be reminded that he still deeply resented her.

She was completely and utterly broken, and had no choice but to accept her fate.

The judge originally considered a four-year prison sentence, but reduced it after considering the defendant’s guilty plea and ongoing health issues. Ultimately, the defendant received a sentence of two years and eight months.

As Debbie was being led away, she cried out to her husband, Ronnie Bailey, begging for one last kiss.

While taking off her fake eyelashes in her cell, she noticed the other prisoners becoming increasingly loud. Suddenly feeling as if she couldn’t see, she called out for assistance.

I was shocked to hear my relative had another mini-stroke and was quickly taken to the hospital. But the real gut punch came when I found out she was actually handcuffed to the bed! It was a truly awful realization of how serious things were.

Will Carl ever confess?
