Coronation Street and Emmerdale are set for a shake-up as ITV’s schedule is disrupted next month.
To allow viewers to watch England’s match against Spain in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the usual Friday, June 5th episodes of both popular soap operas will not be broadcast.
Instead of the usual soap operas, ITV1 will be showing live coverage of the World Cup qualifier between 8pm and 9pm each weeknight.
We don’t know when the episodes will be released, or if fewer episodes will air that week.

Both Emmerdale and Coronation Street have had some of their episodes rescheduled to weekends this year to make room for live sporting events.
This announcement follows ITV’s decision to reduce the number of episodes of its popular soaps last year. The new “power hour” of programming will begin with a special crossover episode featuring both shows in January 2026.
The hugely popular episode featured a dramatic event where characters from the two ITV soaps were involved in a car crash, bringing their worlds together in a shocking way.
It ended in the deaths of two characters, while others were left to deal with the aftermath.
Currently, both Coronation Street and another soap opera have big storylines unfolding. In Coronation Street, residents are trying to solve a murder after abuser Theo Silverton was found dead in an alley.

The investigation is still ongoing – but is someone going to crack anytime soon?
Back in Emmerdale, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) unexpectedly returns to prison. This happens soon after being discharged from the hospital, where he was dealing with a recent prostate cancer diagnosis and the emotional fallout.
Moira is upset about Cain’s recent arrest for public intoxication and inappropriate behavior. Meanwhile, Cain is keeping a secret from her – he hasn’t told her about a medical procedure he might need to save his life.
Okay, so the investigation into who burned down the farm is really focusing on Kammy now. But get this – he claims he’s been secretly living as a homeless person, hiding out in the barns. The big question is, will he actually tell anyone that? It’s a pretty big reveal if it’s true, and honestly, it adds a whole new layer to the mystery. I’m hooked to see what happens next!
You can watch Emmerdale weeknights at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8:30pm on ITV1. Both shows are also available to stream on ITVX from 7am on the day they air.

Before that, she was filling some big shoes as Deputy TV Editor at Digital Spy – covering maternity leave – and then as Deputy TV & Showbiz Editor over at Daily Express US. It’s clear she knows her stuff!
