I really hope you’re enjoying what you’re reading here! If you want to make sure you don’t miss anything, I recommend setting Windows Central as a preferred source in Google Search. There are some great reasons to do that, and it’s a fantastic way to stay informed about all the latest Windows news, reviews, and features.
Death Stranding 2, originally a PlayStation 5 exclusive, has received a rating for PC much sooner than anticipated. The first game took considerably longer to become available on other platforms, and we’ll explain that difference shortly.
Death Stranding 2, the follow-up to the 2019 game Death Stranding, came out on June 26, 2025. It’s currently up for an award at Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards.
The game Death Stranding 2 has received a Mature rating for Windows PC, mirroring the rating it already has on PlayStation 5. This suggests a PC release could be happening soon.
What does the Death Stranding 2 for PC rating suggest?

Considering how the first game was released gives us a general idea of what to expect. Death Stranding originally launched on PlayStation 4 in November 2019. It then became available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store in July 2020, followed by the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass in August 2022. Finally, it came to Xbox Series X and S on November 7, 2024.
Considering the project’s history and how Sony has changed its approach, a release still relies on agreements between Kojima Productions and Sony. If those agreements happen, a PC version could be available as early as December, or sometime in the beginning of next year.
In my research, I’ve noticed a pattern: games often launch within a month or three of getting their ESRB rating, particularly when they’re ports of existing titles. Interestingly, it looks like Xbox players might get their turn with this game about a year after its first release on PlayStation 5 – potentially as early as June 2026. This means Xbox fans won’t have to wait too long to experience it.
Sony’s approach to releasing games on platforms beyond PlayStation has changed in recent years. The success of games like Helldivers 2 on Xbox and revenue from Steam have demonstrated the benefits of making titles available on multiple platforms. Given that the original game is already on PC and Xbox, it seems logical that Sony would release a sequel on those platforms as well, though only time will confirm this.
