Following Bloober Team’s announcement of enhanced gameplay for their sci-fi survival horror title, “Cronos: The New Dawn“, several new previews have surfaced online, offering additional insights. Much like “Silent Hill 2” and “Resident Evil 2“, players can anticipate multiple conclusion scenarios. However, unlike traditional endings, the player’s decisions will determine whether they achieve a “good” or “bad” ending.
In conversation with MP1st, the game director Jacek Zięba expressed that each player’s perception of the game’s endings as either favorable or unfavorable is subjective. Within the studio itself, there can be differing opinions, such as one person saying, “But this ending is bad,” while another might argue, “No, that ending is good.
Grzegorz Like, who serves as lead writer and narrative designer, stated that the team was aiming to handle the endings thoughtfully and foster debate among players. Instead of offering simple “good” or “bad” conclusions, they wanted to create more complex, intricate, and intellectually stimulating outcomes for the psychological horror genre.
In the realm of Cronos: The New Dawn, I find myself assuming the role of a Traveler for the Collective, venturing through 1980s Poland and our present-day world, a post-apocalyptic wasteland known as The Change’s aftermath. This perilous landscape is teeming with Orphans, mutant creatures that grow in power by absorbing the remains of their kind. Needless to say, this tale brims with enigma, suspense, and situations anything but straightforward.
Cronos: The New Dawn is set to debut this autumn on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. You’ll have a chance to play it live at the Xbox display during Gamescom from August 20th to 24th.
