The cooperative pirate-themed survival game known as “Crosswind” is set to debut in Early Access on PC through Steam in the year 2026, according to a joint announcement by its publishers, Forward Gateway, and developers, Crosswind Crew.
Here are the latest details:
The latest trailer for Crosswind offers a sneak preview of what’s in store from the Crosswind Crew, highlighting features that players can expect during early access and beyond. Journey into the treacherous Ashlands, a newly introduced biome overrun by undead and coated with volcanic ash. Additionally, players can eagerly anticipate the addition of Tortuga, an embattled outpost under attack by the undead horde, as well as customizable ships, crew members joining you on deck for battle, and the ability to recruit new crew members.
In 2026, the game titled Crosswind will debut on Steam Early Access as a commercially available product that emphasizes PvE (Player versus Environment) play, whether solo or cooperatively with friends. Initially positioned as a free-to-play survival MMO, this shift to a more conventional multiplayer survival game is in response to a survey conducted among closed Alpha testers regarding their preferences and behaviors. The development team looks forward to the future of Crosswind and plans to continually update and enhance content, features, and gameplay based on player feedback. They are also considering possibilities arising from the transition to a paid model, such as the potential for custom mods and dedicated servers.
