Crunchyroll’s Best Mystery Series Unveils First Look At Live-Action

As a huge anime fan, I spend a lot of time on Crunchyroll – it’s the biggest streaming service for us! They have an amazing library, including Donghua, which is what we call Chinese animation. While Japanese anime gets most of the spotlight, Donghua has been seriously gaining traction, and for good reason. One series that really blew me away is Link Click. It first came out in 2021 and is easily one of the best supernatural mystery anime I’ve seen in years! We were all excited for Season 3, which is scheduled for Fall 2026, but there’s even more to look forward to! Tokai TV just announced a live-action adaptation of Link Click! It was confirmed back in February that the drama will start airing on April 11, 2026, with 10 episodes running until June 13th, 2026. It’s a collaboration with Bilibili, and stars Taiki Sato and Kanata Hongo as Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang – I can’t wait to see them bring these characters to life!

The upcoming live-action series will be directed by Hiroaki Yuasa, famous for his work on Ultraman and several popular dramas. Atsuhiro Tomioka, a highly respected figure in anime known for One Piece, will be the series composer. A first teaser trailer was released on March 14th, giving viewers a glimpse of the story’s world and what it’s about. Tokai TV’s official website also revealed some of the supporting actors, including Shunsuke Kazama, Meari Hayashi, Noriko Nakagoshi, Yumi Adachi, Atsushi Hashimoto, Riku Onishi, Toshio Matsumoto, and Mari Hamada.

Link Click Live-Action Makes Considerable Changes From The Original

Because the show is airing in Japan, the setting and character names have been changed to fit a Japanese audience. The official trailer offered a sneak peek at the photo studio where the main characters work. While it’s been redesigned and is now located in Tokyo, it still maintains the same intriguing atmosphere as the original. Toki (playing Cheng Xiaoshi) and Hikaru (playing Lu Guang) co-own the studio and work together to make their clients happy. However, this seemingly normal business hides a secret: they help people deal with and overcome past regrets.

What Is The Plot of Link Click?

This intriguing story centers around a small shop called “Time Photo Studio” and the two people who work there. They offer a unique service: using their special powers, they can step into photographs and fulfill customers’ wishes. Toki can travel to the past within a photo, but he’s forbidden from altering events. He does this by taking control of the person who originally took the picture, while Hikaru guides him by observing the images.

He’s the ideal companion for Toki throughout his adventures in the photos. But Toki has one unbreakable rule: he must never change the past. Even a small mistake could have disastrous consequences, far beyond what anyone could imagine. While we wait for the upcoming live-action series and season three of the anime, be sure to watch the first two seasons, which are available now on Crunchyroll.
