A popular fantasy anime on Crunchyroll is starting a new season, and a recent trailer gives fans a preview of what’s coming. As the Fall 2025 anime season nears its end, excitement is building for the Winter 2026 lineup. Winter 2026 is looking particularly promising, with both brand new shows and the return of many beloved series.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and Season 2 is set to premiere in January as part of a busy winter anime season. Crunchyroll will stream new episodes at the same time as their release in Japan for international viewers. A new trailer has just been released, giving fans a preview of what’s to come before the season returns to Crunchyroll. You can watch the trailer below.
When Does Frieren Season 2 Come Out?
The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will premiere in Japan on January 16th. If you’re outside of Japan, you can watch the new episodes exclusively on Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India. Crunchyroll also has all the episodes from Season 1 available now, with both English and Japanese audio options. As of today, a dubbed version of Season 2 hasn’t been announced.
For the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Tomoya Kitagawa will be the new director at Madhouse, replacing Keiichiro Saito who directed Season 1. There are also changes to the character design team, with Keisuke Kojima and Yuri Fujinaka taking over from Reiko Nagasawa. However, many other key staff members will return, including Tomohiro Suzuki as series composer and Evan Call, who will compose the music again.
Why Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Has Gotten So Big

Originally starting in 2023, the anime Frieren: Journey’s End gained even more popularity with fans when the second half of its season aired in early 2024. What makes the series stand out is that it’s a beautifully crafted fantasy story, different from the typical isekai or similar genres. It follows Frieren, an almost immortal character, as she embarks on a new journey to truly grieve for her lost companions, and viewers have really connected with its heartfelt story.
Frieren has become incredibly popular, even beyond the anime itself, and is quickly becoming a well-known character. This growing fanbase means even more people will be tuning in to watch the new episodes, and they’re likely in for another fantastic season.
