A popular, gritty anime series from Crunchyroll is getting a new movie. At Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards, the show—based on the 2025 manga Taizan 5—stood out as a major hit with fans. Even though it was a short series, the original manga made a big impression and quickly became a favorite.
I was absolutely blown away by Taizan 5’s Takopi’s Original Sin last year – it was seriously one of the most gripping and dark anime I’ve seen stream on Crunchyroll! It was a shame it only had six episodes, but I’m thrilled to hear they’re continuing the story with a brand new movie! It’s called Takopi’s Original Sin -Thank You, See You Tomorrow, and you can check out the first teaser trailer below!
Takopi’s Original Sin Announces New Movie Return
A movie based on Takopi’s Original Sin -Thank You, See You Tomorrow is currently being made, but a release date hasn’t been announced yet. The film will combine the content from the anime’s six episodes with newly created scenes, offering fans the most complete version of the story they’ve seen so far.
I’m really excited about Takopi’s Original Sin -Thank You, See You Tomorrow! While it’s not officially confirmed yet, I’m hoping the same amazing team from the TV anime will be back. The original anime was directed by Shinya Iino at studio ENISHIYA, with Keita Nagahara handling the character designs and Yoshiaki Fujisawa composing the music – seriously, the music was fantastic! Plus, the voice cast was incredible, featuring Kurumi Mamiya as Takopi, Reina Ueda as Shizuka Kuze, Konomi Kohara as Marina, and Anna Nagase as Azuma. They truly poured their hearts into this series, and I can’t wait to see what they do next!
What’s So Special About Takopi’s Original Sin?

Originally published on Shueisha’s Jump+ in 2021, Takopi’s Original Sin is a self-contained story with a clear beginning and end. Be warned, though – it deals with very heavy topics. While other anime have explored difficult themes like suicide, abuse, and murder, Takopi’s Original Sin is particularly intense because it focuses on these issues through the eyes of young children. It’s not a series to approach casually.
Takopi’s Original Sin is a quick and engaging watch for anime lovers – easily finished in a weekend, with a few pauses for particularly impactful scenes. You can stream it now on Crunchyroll, but it might be worth waiting to see the upcoming movie version to experience the complete story.
