CD Projekt RED has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting an update to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro. This will improve the game’s graphics for players with the new console.
The new update will be released tomorrow, April 8th, 2026. The PlayStation Blog recently shared some information about the changes you can look forward to.
The game really showcases the power of the console with its improved PSSR technology. According to global art director Kuba Knapik, the results are stunning, bringing every detail of Night City – from glowing katanas to pedestrians and fast cars – to life.
The Pro update significantly enhances lighting quality with realistic ray-traced lights, shadows, and reflections. It achieves this using an advanced technology called BVH8, which efficiently organizes and processes the scene’s geometry.
With this update, Pro users will have three graphics settings to choose from, each focusing on different priorities.
- Ray Tracing Pro: Enables all ray tracing effects, targets 30 frames-per-second (40fps on VRR-enabled displays)
- Ray Tracing: Enables select ray tracing enhancements, targets 60fps
- Performance: No ray tracing enabled, emphasises frame rate (up to 90fps on VRR-enabled displays)
