The popular anime series DAN DA DAN is preparing for its third season, but fans will get a special treat sooner than expected with a new live-action release. Based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga, DAN DA DAN quickly became a hit, going viral multiple times during its first two seasons. With the manga celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, expect even more from this exciting franchise.
The popular series DAN DA DAN is getting a stage play adaptation in Japan to celebrate its fifth anniversary. Recently, a first look at the production was revealed. Titled DAN DA DAN Occult Stage, the play is scheduled to launch in Japan this August, though there are currently no plans for international release or viewing options.
Dandadan Live-Action Play First Look Revealed

Imagine Ito will direct the stage play DAN DA DAN Occult Stage, which features a script by Shinjiro Kameda and music by Ryo Konishi. Yuiri Murayama will play Momo Ayase, and the role of Okarun will be split between Raimu Ninomiya (as the regular Okarun) and Hiroki Hyakuna (as Okarun after using Turbo Granny’s powers). Aoi Nakabeppu, Riko Tanaka, and Risa Yamazaki will also star as Seiko, Aira Shiratori, and Acrobatic Silky, respectively. Unfortunately, the play will only be available to audiences in Japan.
Like many popular anime series, this one has been adapted into a stage play, but these plays rarely leave Japan. Occasionally, special screenings allow international fans to watch them with subtitles. While it’s possible this play could be shown outside of Japan, for now, fans will need to travel to Japan to see it, or wait for the third season of the anime to be released.
When Does Dandadan Season 3 Come Out?
Season 3 of DAN DA DAN is expected to premiere in 2027, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. While details about the staff are still under wraps, Science SARU will once again be animating the new episodes, just like the previous two seasons. The voice actors are confirmed to return, including Shion Wakayama as Momo, Natsuki Hanae as Okarun, Nana Mizuki as Seiko, Ayane Sakura as Aira, Kaito Ishikawa as Jiji, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Manjiro, Daichi Fujiwara as Kinta, and Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo Granny, among others.
As of today, it’s still unclear where you’ll be able to stream the third season of DAN DA DAN. But now is a great time to revisit the first two seasons! You can currently watch the anime on platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll.
