Dark fantasy roguelike deckbuilder Rogue Reigns announced for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, PC, iOS, and Android

Venn Studios, a Brazilian game developer, is releasing a dark fantasy card game called Rogue Reigns. Players will be able to experience it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC (through Steam), and mobile devices (iOS and Android) starting in September. If you’re attending Gamescom LATAM 2026 (April 30 – May 3) or Gamescom 2026 (August 26-30), you can try out a demo. The game will also be showcased during the Steam Deckbuilders Fest from May 4th to 11th.

Hugo Neri, CEO of Venn Studios, explained that unlike most deckbuilding games where you control a single character and build one deck, Rogue Reigns features three characters fighting as a team. He emphasized that how these characters work together is the core of the game, and choosing your team is your strategy.

Here is an overview of the game, via Venn Studios:

About

Rogue Reigns is a dark fantasy card game where you build a deck and explore randomly generated 3D worlds. It’s unique for its hand-drawn art style and a battle system that lets you control a whole party of characters – something you don’t often see in deckbuilding games.

Rogue Reigns, built with Venn Studios’ unique Wildcard engine, pushes the boundaries of its genre. It combines beautifully drawn characters and visually striking 3D worlds with the challenging, strategic gameplay of roguelike deckbuilding.

A New Evolution of Deckbuilding: “Your Party Is Your Build”

Unlike most deckbuilding games that center around one character, Rogue Reigns lets you control a team of three heroes. Each hero has their own unique deck of cards, special abilities, and takes their turn in a specific order. The exciting part of the game comes from how these heroes work together.

Okay, so in this game, after every fight, we have to make a tough call. We only get enough rewards to really level up one of our heroes. It feels brutal, but it means we have to pick a favorite, I guess. It’s amazing how quickly those choices add up though – the hero I’m focusing on gets crazy strong, while the others start to feel…left behind. And honestly, it creates real tension, because when the big bad guy finally shows up, someone’s definitely going down.

Players will build teams using a variety of classes like Warriors, Wizards, Rogues, Paladins, and Warlocks. Each team setup creates different combinations, strategies, and ways to play. There will be 10 different starting team options at launch, so every playthrough will feel fresh and unique.

A Dark Fantasy World Without Death

In the world of Rogue Reigns, death no longer exists thanks to a powerful artifact that’s been misused. This has led to crumbling kingdoms, troubled leaders, and a world slowly falling apart. Players will explore this decaying land and uncover the tragic stories of its broken societies.

Honestly, the game just looks incredible. The art style is totally unique – it’s all hand-crafted 3D, which is cool, but it’s the way they use color that really grabs you. The characters are really expressive and stand out, but everything else is more subdued, with these pops of color that just make everything feel… different. I haven’t seen a roguelike deckbuilder look like this before, it’s a really striking visual style.

Built with the Community, for the Community

Rogue Reigns is the debut game from Venn Studios, an independent team based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The team has a long history and strong connection within the deckbuilding game community.

With over 108,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel, the team has become known for their deep knowledge and enthusiasm for roguelike deckbuilding games. They create videos that dive into how these games work, the ideas behind their design, and the newest developments in the genre.

The game’s development has been heavily influenced by close collaboration with players. Rogue Reigns has been improved through many playtests with passionate deckbuilder fans, both in person at events and through continuous feedback. These playtests were especially important in shaping the game’s central features, like how parties work.

Venn Studios intends to keep growing its playtesting program before the game officially releases. They plan to include more players and continue working closely with the community throughout development.
