Even though David Corenswet’s Superman film was only recently released in cinemas less than a month ago, he has already reprised his role as the character in the DCU, and you can catch him in action right now. In James Gunn’s recent release of the Superman movie, Corenswet first appeared as DCU’s Man of Steel, setting the stage for future developments in the franchise.
It has been confirmed that Tyler Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman will appear elsewhere in Gunn’s expanded superhero universe, including Peacemaker Season 2 and other upcoming titles from DC Studios. What might surprise fans is the early return of this character, as the Man of Steel has already made an appearance in another DC Studios production, catching viewers off guard with his arrival so quickly.
In the latest release, titled “Krypto Saves the Day!“, we see David Corenswet reprising his role as Superman for the second time within the DC Universe.
In the upcoming release of Gunn’s Superman movie – both physically and digitally – an animated short is included as one of four. This particular short features Superman’s adorable, mischievous pet dog rescuing a group of children during a chaotic school bus trip.
At the beginning of the short film, Superman, portrayed by Corenswet, is depicted gazing over the city from his apartment in Metropolis while enjoying a cup of coffee.
In simpler terms, it’s been made official that Superman won’t make his final cameo in these shorts with this announcement. Instead, hints suggest he’ll appear again in another beach-themed episode of the animated series.

In a exciting twist, the much-anticipated Krypto shorts will be included as an exclusive extra for both the physical and digital versions of James Gunn’s Superman. Mark your calendars! The digital release is set for August 15, while the DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD editions hit the shelves on September 23. In this fresh take on the DC universe, David Corenswet portrays Superman alongside Nicholas Hoult, who brings Lex Luthor to life.
Where Will Superman Show Up Next in the DCU?
Now that David Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman has been featured in two consecutive DC Universe productions, it signals the official beginning of the universe as James Gunn and the team at DC Studios start weaving the connecting elements that will form the foundation of this superhero narrative for many years ahead.
In the second season of “Peacemaker,” it’s been officially announced that Superman, also known as The Man of Steel, will make an appearance, albeit briefly. However, details about his role beyond this cameo are currently unclear.
Surely, one highly anticipated sequel involving Superman, currently being developed by James Gunn, has garnered significant attention (rumored as a family-oriented Super-centric story). However, it’s unlikely that his future appearances in upcoming DCU projects will be limited to just this one project.
It wouldn’t be unexpected if the actor from Corenswet’s “Superman” film appeared in the following year’s “Supergirl” movie, following Milly Alock’s portrayal of Supergirl.
In a ideal scenario, wherever he reappears, it won’t be too far off until his character resurfaces in the DC Universe once more, as he consistently represents the banner of DC Studios.
