DC Comics has given Batman a new suit, but it’s a design that Alfred Pennyworth has worn more often! Throughout the years, Batman has had many different and memorable suits, both in comic books and in his movies – each film usually features a unique version of his classic costume.
It’s not surprising that Batman creates new and improved suits – many of his costumes have been incredibly advanced, allowing him to fight even super-powered villains. However, it is unusual that he’s giving this latest design to Alfred instead of using it himself.
DC’s “Exo-Bat” Suit Lets Alfred Join The Fray In Batman’s Newest On-Screen Story
As a long-time fan, I always found it interesting how the ‘Bat-Fam’ introduced the Exo-Bat pretty early on. It was this cool, upgraded, silver armored suit that Batman was experimenting with, seemingly intending to wear it himself. But, surprisingly, it ended up being Alfred Pennyworth who actually used it multiple times! It was a neat twist to see him in the suit instead of Bruce.
The Exo-Bat suit allows Alfred to participate in the Bat-family’s battles. This Iron Man-inspired suit protects him and enhances his strength with advanced technology and strong armor, making him a more effective fighter.
At first, Alfred was hesitant about the Exo-Bat, understandably, as it was a new and potentially risky suit. However, by the end, he was willingly using it to battle various DC villains, proving he’d become quite comfortable with it. It’s a bit funny, really, that someone who usually avoids fighting ends up with the team’s most powerful gear.
Giving Alfred The Exo-Bat Suit Pays Off Perfectly For Bat-Fam
Alfred has worn a Batman suit in comic books before, so the idea isn’t completely new. But in this instance, the story takes it further: Bruce Wayne has designed a full suit of armor for Alfred, and it demonstrates just how advanced Batman’s technology has become.
Considering everything, this approach works really well for stories featuring the Batman family. It highlights that Alfred is capable of far more than people might expect, as he quickly adapts to using the Exo-Bat and willingly participates in battles alongside his family, especially given how complex the suit seems to be.
Considering how much the core ‘Bat-Family’ cares for Alfred – even if they don’t always show it conventionally – giving him the Exo-Bat suit feels like a natural fit for the show. It highlights the Wayne family’s dedication to protecting him, and demonstrates how highly they value him by giving him Batman’s most advanced technology without hesitation.
