The popular multiplayer game Dead by Daylight recently added Jason Voorhees, the iconic hockey-masked killer, which was a great way to mark its anniversary. Now, Behaviour Interactive has announced another new licensed character: Art the Clown from the horror movies. This continues the trend of bringing famous horror icons into the game.
The terrifying killer Art the Clown from the Terrifier movies is coming to the popular game Dead by Daylight in November 2026, as revealed during the game’s 10th anniversary livestream. According to director Mathieu Cote, Art will bring a distinctive blend of dark humor, brutality, and showmanship that sets him apart even among the most famous horror villains. The announcement was accompanied by a performer dressed as Art dancing on stage, but a full trailer and more details will be released later this year.
Art the Clown Is Finally Coming to Dead by Daylight

Behaviour Interactive had been hinting at celebrations for their 10th anniversary with a series of misleading clues and subtle teases. One announcement video featured birthday balloons, leading some players to speculate about the return of Pennywise the clown from IT – a character surprisingly absent from the game so far. However, other observant fans noticed hints pointing towards Art the Clown. While it wasn’t clear if these were intentional clues, those who guessed Art ultimately proved correct.
Art the Clown is a relatively new addition to the world of classic horror villains. While characters like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers have been frightening audiences for decades, the first Terrifier movie wasn’t released until 2016, shortly after the launch of the Dead by Daylight game. The Terrifier films are known for their extreme and graphic violence, exceeding what’s typically seen in other popular horror franchises. Each film has also been more successful than the last, with the most recent installment earning over $90 million despite being made with a budget of only around $3 million.
Art has appeared in video games beyond just being a character skin in popular titles like Call of Duty and Fortnite. He even starred in his own retro-style beat-em-up game, Terrifier: The ARTcade Game, released in 2025. While the game didn’t receive enough attention for scores on review sites like Metacritic or OpenCritic, critics who did review it gave it generally negative or unenthusiastic feedback. It currently has a “Mixed” rating on Steam.
The art reveal was just one highlight from the game’s anniversary livestream. Dead by Daylight will also be adding characters inspired by The Casting of Frank Stone (a narrative adventure game released in 2024), with these additions planned for 2027. Players can also look forward to a new map based on a shopping mall featuring unsettling, liminal spaces, the first-ever Indigenous Survivor character named Shane Wiigwaas, and major improvements to the game’s visuals and animations in 2027. Finally, crossover outfits will be available for characters like Negan and Glenn from The Walking Dead, Scooby-Doo, Hinako Shimizu from Silent Hill f, and a nurse from Silent Hill 2.
