Deadliest Catch’s Todd Meadows Dead at 25

The Deadliest Catch family has said goodbye to one of their own.

Crew member Todd Meadows, 25, died on February 25th, according to Captain Rick Shelford.

Rick didn’t say how Todd died, but described his death as the most devastating event ever to happen on the Aleutian Lady.

Todd recently joined our team and quickly felt like part of the family,” he shared on Facebook on March 2nd. “He immediately gained everyone’s respect with his passion for fishing and his dedication to hard work.

Rick went on to say that his smile was infectious, and they’ll never forget hearing his laughter echo up the stairs or across the ship’s speakers.

Rick, a captain featured on the TV show Deadliest Catch, also shared thoughts about Todd and his family, noting that his love for them was clear in all his actions.

He was a dedicated and loving person who brightened the lives of everyone he knew,” he continued. “We’re all deeply saddened and struggling to find the words to describe our loss.

The captain stated that Todd would always be considered one of the team, a valued member of the crew and their close-knit group.

It was heartbreaking to lose Rick so suddenly, but his spirit truly lives on – in the wonderful children he leaves behind, and in all the cherished memories we all hold dear. As I reflect on it, I keep thinking about his final words – a simple, heartfelt ‘Rest easy, brother, until we meet again.’ It’s a beautiful sentiment and a reminder to appreciate every moment with those we love.

I was so saddened to hear about Todd. He was a father to three wonderful boys, and his ex-partner, Kennady Harvey, shared some really touching memories of him. It’s clear he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

In a Facebook post on February 26th, she expressed her grief, writing that no words could ever bring back her loved one. She shared that he was not only the father of their children but also her closest friend.

Kennady shared, ‘Knowing you were doing what you loved brings me some peace.’ She promised to keep the memory of the person alive for their children, saying, ‘I’ll make sure the boys never forget you. We’ll talk about you every day, visit your special places, and show them all your photos and videos.’

The Discovery Channel, home to the show Deadliest Catch, also expressed its sympathy to Todd and everyone who knew him.

Discovery Channel expressed deep sadness over the loss, saying in a statement on March 2nd that they are thinking of his family, colleagues, and everyone affected in the fishing world during this very hard time.
