There’s good news for fans who can’t wait for the Merc with a Mouth to make his return.
Sanshiro Kasama wrote the story and Hikaru Uesugi created the artwork for this manga, which is continuing with new chapters. Before the new releases, fans can read Deadpool: Samurai online for free.
Good news for Deadpool: Samurai fans! The online comic series is continuing with new chapters starting Thursday, January 15th. To mark the return, Shonen Jump is offering free access to the second season (chapters 16-20) until January 15th – a great chance to enjoy Deadpool’s adventures again or discover them for the first time!
ComicBook.com has summarized Deadpool: Samurai Chapter 20, which ended in a cliffhanger for years on end. “the Merc With a Mouth was in a life-or-death fight with an alternate reality version of himself. While fighting against another Deadpool would be tough enough on its own, but this new villain was a fusion of both Deadpool and Wolverine…. The last chapter came to a close with Deadpool and his doppelganger squaring off for a titanic fight, so we have to imagine that the next chapter will throw readers into the thick of things,” the entertainment publication recounts for those needing to catch up with what happened last in Deadpool: Samurai.
Though it’s been a few years, Deadpool: Samurai might be reprinted soon. Deadpool has remained popular through his appearances in Marvel Comics and, importantly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 2024 saw the official inclusion of the X-Men (previously from 20th Century Fox) into the MCU, and it also brought Hugh Jackman back to the role of Wolverine after the character seemingly died in Logan.
Marvel Has A History With Anime and Manga
The new series, Deadpool: Samurai, isn’t the first time Marvel has teamed up with anime and manga. Marvel started exploring this crossover back in 2010 with Marvel Anime, and other shows like Marvel Future Avengers and Marvel Disk Wars have also combined Marvel characters with anime styles. The X-Men even got their own anime series, Marvel Anime: X-Men, in 2011. While we don’t know which Marvel properties might get an anime adaptation next, there’s plenty of potential for more anime series in the future.
It’s not surprising that Marvel characters have expanded into manga. The Marvel Mangaverse started in 2000, and since then, many Marvel manga titles have become available in both English and Japanese, both in print and online. Like other popular Marvel heroes, the X-Men have also been featured in their own manga adaptations.
While fans are hoping to see Deadpool: Samurai adapted into a live-action movie or anime series, they can currently follow the story in new installments of the Deadpool: Samurai manga.
The manga Deadpool: Samurai is back on January 15th. Episodes 16 through 20 of the second season are currently available to read for free on Shonen Jump’s social media channels.
