Man, I remember when Death Stranding first dropped – it was a PlayStation exclusive back in 2019! It’s wild to see how far it’s come, popping up on so many platforms now. Honestly, with it hitting Game Pass soon, it doesn’t even feel that shocking anymore. It’s just… cool to see it reach more players.
Here’s what’s coming up tomorrow, January 21st, 2026: Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Game Pass Ultimate. This expands access to the game, as it’s already included with the PS Plus Extra subscription on PlayStation since 2022.
Even before the first Death Stranding game was released, it wasn’t intended to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive forever. Rumors before launch hinted that it would eventually come to other platforms, and that happened when publisher 505 Games released a PC version. More recently, in November 2024, the original game also became available on Xbox Series X|S.
Currently, Death Stranding 2 is only available on PlayStation 5, but recent ratings indicate a PC release is likely coming. An Xbox Series X|S version could also be released after that, which wouldn’t be unexpected.
This Director’s Cut of Death Stranding adds new content to the original game, like racing tracks and a stealth mission inspired by Metal Gear Solid. It’s been available on PlayStation Plus Extra for a while, and now Xbox Series X|S owners with Game Pass Ultimate will be able to play it too.
