‘Deeply Disappointed’: BioShock Boss Just as Annoyed by the Wait for New Game as You Are

Strauss Zelnick, the head of Take-Two Interactive, has expressed his disappointment with how long it’s taken to develop a new BioShock game, especially since the last installment came out in 2013.

Cloud Chamber is currently working on a new BioShock game, but it hasn’t been publicly revealed yet. When asked about the lengthy wait for a new installment, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick told Game File’s Stephen Totilo (as reported by VGC) that he wasn’t surprised it was taking so long.

He explained that a ‘surprise’ means things can go from great to terrible very quickly, and he doesn’t operate a business that way. He did admit to being ‘deeply disappointed,’ though, which he felt was a more accurate description of how he felt.

Man, the BioShock games were some of the best single-player experiences I had on the PS3. I remember getting totally hooked on the first one, and then being blown away by BioShock Infinite. It’s crazy to think it’s been 13 years since the last one came out – I’m still hoping for another BioShock game!

Zelnick recently shared that he’s much more optimistic about the project Cloud Chamber is developing. He admitted it took time to find the right creative direction, and in hindsight, they spent a lot of effort and resources exploring ideas that didn’t work out.

As a huge fan, I was really relieved to hear that Rod Fergusson – who used to lead the Diablo team and also worked on BioShock Infinite – is now helping to finish the game! Apparently, when he joined, everyone thought it was already pretty good, but now they’re really focused on making it amazing. They’re working with the studio heads to figure out exactly how to get there, which is awesome to hear.
