The popular anime film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, is returning to cinemas with an enhanced version. It was a huge success when it was first released in Japan this summer, playing exclusively in theaters for all of 2025. This re-release is special because it’s making history, and only a limited number of fans will get to experience the upgraded film.
I’m so excited! Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is coming back to Japanese theaters in February, and this time it’s getting the IMAX treatment! What’s really cool is this is the first anime film ever in Japan to get a special IMAX version. They’ve actually expanded the visuals to a wider 1.43:1 aspect ratio, which is perfect for those huge IMAX screens – it’ll fill your vision! Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Returns to IMAX Theaters With New Version
Fans outside of Japan won’t be able to see the new IMAX version of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle when it’s released in Japan on February 6th. There are currently no plans to release the upgraded film internationally, meaning it may remain exclusive to Japan. This likely also delays the release of the film on Blu-ray or digital download, as it will continue to be shown in theaters in Japan for some time.
If the Blu-ray and DVD aren’t released in Japan by the end of February, it will likely delay the availability of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle on streaming and digital platforms. However, an upcoming event at AnimeJapan 2026 in March could provide fans with news about the future of the film series, including release plans.
What’s Next for Demon Slayer?
Even though Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is still doing very well in theaters and could be nominated for Academy Awards, fans are anxious to learn when the next movie in the series will be released. Currently, the creators haven’t announced plans for the second film, which is understandable since the first one is still receiving so much attention.
More adventures are on the way for Tanjiro Kamado and his friends! Two new Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba movies are planned to cover the Infinity Castle arc from the original manga. While it might take some time for these films to be released, fans can expect another thrilling experience, just like the first movie.
