The first film in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy has broken box office records this year, making the series even more popular worldwide. This anime, based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga and produced by Ufotable, will conclude the thrilling Infinity Castle story with three films. Currently, there’s no news about when the Sunrise Countdown Arc will be adapted into anime. Although the manga finished over five years ago, the anime is just reaching its final storyline, focusing on the epic battles against the Upper Moons and Muzan Kibutsuji. The first film showcased three highly anticipated fights, and the action is only going to get more intense as more characters join the battle.
Despite the first film’s release months ago, Ufotable hasn’t announced any details about the second part, which will likely continue the battle against the demons. A report on X (formerly Twitter) in September 2025, shortly after the U.S. premiere, suggested a possible live-action adaptation by Netflix, fueled by the success of the first movie. While nothing is confirmed, Zach Aguilar, the English voice actor for Tanjiro Kamado, is optimistic about a live-action series.

In a recent interview with Express, creator Aguilar discussed the potential for a live-action version of his work, which has been the subject of much speculation. He said he finds the idea “really interesting” and believes it could attract viewers who don’t typically watch animation. Aguilar explained that he’s noticed this firsthand, as his parents only watch anime because he’s involved, but wouldn’t otherwise.
He believes a Netflix adaptation of Demon Slayer could work, but only if it’s done well and stays true to the original story and setting. He emphasized the importance of accurate casting and capturing the emotional core of the series.
This story takes place in the early 1900s and is heavily inspired by Japanese culture, which is a big reason why it’s so popular. That strong cultural element also makes a live-action adaptation challenging. Despite this, given the series’ success, a live-action version isn’t out of the question. While fans have mixed feelings about it, many are optimistic, especially after the huge success of the live-action One Piece. Before One Piece, live-action adaptations of anime and manga often received criticism, but Netflix’s version of Eiichiro Oda’s world has set a new standard and increased excitement for future adaptations.
