Dan Stevens has been cast as a serial killer in Dexter: Resurrection season 2.
The actor has been cast as a recurring character, ‘The Five Borough Killer,’ in the second season of the ‘Dexter’ sequel, which started production on Monday, April 13th.
As a real cinema fan, I was immediately struck by this character – he reminded me of the Zodiac killer, constantly winding up the police with chilling phone calls predicting attacks. And when he actually does commit these terrible acts, the whole city and the police force just fall into complete terror. It’s a really unsettling dynamic.
I’m really excited to hear that James Stevens is joining the cast! He’ll be working alongside Brian Cox – you know, from Succession – who’s taking on a seriously chilling role. He’s playing a character based on the real-life New York Ripper, a serial killer who terrorized the city back in the day. It sounds like a really dark and fascinating project.
Uma Thurman is coming back as Charley, the ex-Special Ops officer who left town last season, and Michael C. Hall will once again play Dexter, it was recently announced.
Plot details for season 2 are currently being kept under wraps.

The show’s return for another season was announced in October when Hall shared the news in a social media video.
Michael C. Hall started a video by saying, “I just want to thank all the fans who watched Dexter: New Blood with us this summer. We hope you enjoyed it.”
He also announced that the show has been renewed for another season! The writing team is starting up now, so more information will be shared soon, but he wanted everyone to hear the good news first: the story isn’t over yet.
Dan Stevens is most famous for playing Matthew Crawley on Downton Abbey. He’s also appeared in TV shows like Zero Day and Solar Opposites, and films including Godzilla x Kong: New Empire and Cuckoo.
Dexter: Resurrection season 1 is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
