In the latest installment of Noah Hawley’s “Alien: Earth”, we find a greater number of antagonists emerging compared to the infamous Xenomorph that has consistently been a menacing presence in all previous iterations of the “Alien” series. As the first TV show within the “Alien” universe, “Alien: Earth” marks the debut of the Xenomorph and other extraterrestrial beings on Earth. This allows the series to delve deeper into political, corporate, and personal topics. Although the initial episodes have provided thrilling Xenomorph encounters, it appears that this legendary creature may not be the main adversary in the show.
In episode 4 of Alien: Earth titled “Observation,” several potential antagonists more formidable than the Xenomorph were introduced as the series progresses. The episode concluded with a new Xenomorph’s birth, but Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler) displayed unusual communication skills and affection for the creature, potentially signaling her turn against her human makers.
Furthermore, Morrow (Babou Ceesay), the cyborg character, has been exhibiting a sinister intent, while one of the other extraterrestrial beings appears to be the smartest alien encountered in the Alien franchise thus far.
In the aftermath of the USCSS Maginot’s crash-landing on Earth, one of the strange beings discovered was a peculiar entity resembling an eye with tentacles, nicknamed the T. Ocellus. Initially, this creature gave off quite an unsettling vibe. However, in the gripping narrative of ‘Alien: Earth’, we were offered a more intimate glimpse into its behaviors. The T. Ocellus was showcased in a chilling scene where it targeted an unsuspecting sheep, replacing the poor creature’s eyeball with its own, thus gaining control over its host’s body.
Kirsh, portrayed by Timothy Olyphant, had a chance to study this highly intelligent being up close. He speculated that among all the captured specimens, the T. Ocellus was undoubtedly the most intellectually advanced. The significance of its menacing and merciless gaze remains a mystery yet to be unraveled.
In the fourth episode of “Alien: Earth,” Morrow’s ruthless tactics towards Slightly (Adarsh Gourav) such as threatening his family in India indicate that he is ready to take drastic measures to further Weyland-Yutani’s hidden agendas regarding the alien specimens on Earth, particularly the Xenomorph. In “Observation,” Morrow pushes Slightly to offer a sacrifice to a facehugger, and his data theft in the previous episode, as well as his readiness to endanger his own crew during the series premiere of “Alien: Earth,” all contribute to establishing him as an exceptional antagonist. Weyland-Yutani is a recurring element throughout the “Alien” franchise, and their ominous influence may be felt in “Alien: Earth.

Wendy might be turning into the most troubling character in the series, as she seems to be distancing herself from her creators at Prodigy Corporation, including Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin). Interestingly, Wendy appears to have taken on a maternal role towards the new Xenomorph, which could cause issues in the upcoming episodes of Alien: Earth. The final episode of the series is titled “The Real Monsters,” implying that the aliens may not be humanity’s greatest threat, but rather humanity itself.
