For years, Disney has successfully relied on making sequels and live-action versions of its classic films. While Bob Iger was CEO, this strategy continued to work well. However, Iger recently stepped down, and Josh D’Amaro is now the company’s Chief Executive Officer. It seems D’Amaro plans to continue this successful approach, as Disney has just announced more sequels are in the works.
Disney announced release dates for two sequels at its 2026 shareholder meeting. A follow-up to the live-action Lilo & Stitch is planned for May 26, 2028—three years after the first reboot. Pixar also confirmed that Incredibles 3 will hit theaters on June 16, 2028. Disney previously reserved both of these dates for other unannounced movies.
This is a developing story, it will be updated.
