As a huge Star Wars fan, I was really excited by The Acolyte because it felt like the closest we’d gotten to a story truly focused on the Sith. The show mainly follows the Jedi as they discover a new type of Sith hidden way out in the galaxy, but it held back from fully diving into the dark side until the very last episode. It was a bummer to then learn Lucasfilm cancelled it after just one season, especially since the finale hinted at the arrival of Darth Plagueis – a character a lot of us have been wanting to see explored!

After two years, the series Maul – Shadow Lord demonstrates that the Sith can successfully carry their own story, but only if Star Wars embraces a darker, more mature tone.
