In the latter part of the game Dispatch, Jeffrey Wright’s character, Chase, faced a difficult journey, ultimately leading to the revelation of his destiny. Dispatch is a new episodic superhero game where players follow Robert Robertson, a former hero now working as a dispatcher for the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN). Robert’s job is to transform a mismatched group of villains into heroes, and he’s assisted at the SDN by Chase—also known as Track Star—an old friend of Robert’s father who sees this as a chance to rebuild their relationship as coworkers.
As a huge fan of the character, I always found Chase’s abilities fascinating – he can move fifty times faster than a normal person! But here’s the tragic catch: using that speed ages him incredibly quickly. In the episode Dispatch, it’s really jarring to see him looking like an old man, even though he’s barely forty! It’s why he ended up retiring and taking a job at SDN – he basically had to put his powers aside to save his own life.
Dispatch is a new game developed by AdHoc Studio and Critical Role. It features voice acting from a talented cast including Aaron Paul, Jeffrey Wright, Laura Bailey, Erin Yvette, and Matthew Mercer. The last episodes of Dispatch became available on PC and PlayStation 5 on November 12th.

Did Chase Die In Dispatch?

In the sixth episode of Dispatch, Chase finds himself in danger after making a huge sacrifice. Throughout the series, Robert and his team at SDN have been working to repair his superhero suit, Mecha Man, but they need one final component: the Astral Pulse.
Once Invisigal – who looks a lot like Vi from the game Arcane – found the Astral Pulse, she chose to sneak into the warehouse by herself. Even though Robert tried to support her remotely, she was quickly overpowered by Shroud and her troops.
It broke my heart to see Robert so upset, but Chase, being the hero he is, couldn’t stand by. He tapped back into his incredible speed, racing to find Invisigal and get her to safety. It was a selfless act, truly, but it took a heavy toll on him. Pushing himself like that aged him rapidly, and sadly, his body just couldn’t handle it.
At the end of Episode 6, Chase is left unconscious in the hospital, and it’s unknown if he’ll pull through.
How Is Chase Alive In Dispatch Episode 8?

Even though it’s unclear what will happen to Chase in the rest of the series, he surprisingly comes back in Episode 8.
During a fierce fight with Shroud’s spider-mech, Chase makes a powerful return, now with a new suit and the ability to fly. It’s revealed that Blonde Blazer, the leader of the SDN Torrance branch and possessing powers similar to Supergirl, gifted Chase a red amulet – the source of these new abilities.
The amulet gives Chase the same abilities, healing his injuries and turning him into a faster, more powerful hero.
After Shroud was defeated, Blazer explained to Robert that Chase could keep her amulet until they figured things out. Although this would leave Blazer without her powers, the amulet helped Chase heal and is probably the only reason he hasn’t fallen back into a coma.
The episode doesn’t show whether the heroes can save Chase, but Blazer’s amulet keeps him alive and able to continue being a hero for the time being.
