Doctor Who and Ted Lasso favourites confirmed for final two SNL UK episodes

Saturday Night Live UK has announced who will host and perform on its last two shows of the season: Hannah Waddingham and Ncuti Gatwa will bring the first season to a close.

Hannah Waddingham, known for her role in Ted Lasso, will host the show on Saturday, May 9th. Singer-songwriter Myles Smith, a BRIT Award winner, will be the musical performer.

Next week, Ncuti Gatwa, the star of Doctor Who, will host the season finale on Saturday, May 16th. Indie-pop artist Holly Humberstone will also be performing.

This Saturday’s show will be hosted by Aimee Lou Wood, known for her roles in Sex Education and The White Lotus, and feature a performance by up-and-coming British artist MEEK.

The show’s first season has featured a fantastic lineup of hosts, starting with Tina Fey, followed by Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, and Nicola Coughlan. It’s also had some amazing musical performances from artists like Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Jorja Smith, and Foo Fighters.

The new UK version of Saturday Night Live launched with a lot of buzz, largely because of its ties to the original American show, created by Lorne Michaels and on air since 1975.

The show’s viewership numbers have been carefully tracked. The first episode, hosted by Tina Fey, attracted 528,000 viewers within a week, and the fourth episode, featuring Jack Whitehall, reached 371,700 viewers. Beyond television, the series has gained considerable traction online, amassing over 86 million views across various social media platforms, according to Sky.

The first cast of Saturday Night Live UK includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.

Saturday Night Live UK airs live on Saturdays at 10pm on Sky and NOW.
