Dolly Parton knows what it’s like to always love those we’ve lost.
After the passing of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, the music legend shared some words of comfort with friends Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire, both of whom are grieving the loss of Brandon Blackstock, Kelly’s former spouse and Reba’s stepson.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dolly expressed that one should be thankful for the years spent with someone. Instead of dwelling on the past, it’s essential to remember the most positive moments and use the energy received from them as a source to strengthen oneself, essentially integrating those memories into one’s being.
As she simply put it, “Just honor their memory.”
As a lifestyle advisor, I’m deeply saddened to share that I, Brandon Blackstock, have taken my final bow at the tender age of 48, surrounded by the love and comfort of my family. My precious children, River Rose, aged 11, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 9, share this bittersweet journey with me. In accordance with official confirmation from Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis to TopMob News, I’ve departed this world due to complications related to melanoma. This is a stark reminder of the importance of regular health check-ups and skin cancer awareness.
After his passing, several loved ones of Brandon paid heartfelt tributes to the music producer. Among them was his son Seth Blackstock, whom he shared with his former wife Melissa Ashworth, as well as daughter Savannah Blackstock.
In his August 9th entry, Seth expressed, “Yesterday, I lost the person I admired most. Words fall short to express how proud I feel about you for raising me and your three other children. You were more than just a father; you were also a son, a brother, but above all, you were my best friend.
He went on saying, “From now on, I’ll observe your growth from a bird’s-eye perspective, which is fine by me. There isn’t another soul on this planet I’d rather have as my father, because no one else could be half the man you were to me. I’ll see you every day as the sun rises and sets.
Apart from Brandon, Shelby Blackstock – son of Reba and Brandon’s father Narvel Blackstock – also paid a heartfelt tribute to him.
Shelby expressed on Instagram on August 8 that no words can truly convey the immense sorrow our family has experienced due to losing Brandon Blackstock. He was an indispensable member of our family, known for his humor, intelligence, and vivacious spirit, and we will dearly miss him. Brandon imparted many valuable lessons to me, leaving behind a treasure trove of priceless memories that I will cherish forever.
He went on to say, “For each cherished moment we experienced, there will be countless others we’ll miss out on sharing, yet I believe you’ll always be with me. In every hunt, every journey, and even in the ordinary moments of daily life, I’ll sense your presence.
