Get ready for Avengers: Doomsday! This highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe event film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18th, and it’s the first major event since Avengers: Endgame. Plus, a well-known villain from Marvel Comics is making a comeback!
Robert Downey Jr. is rumored to be taking on a new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the iconic villain Doctor Doom. While Doctor Doom hasn’t appeared in the MCU yet, fans have been eager to see him join the franchise, especially considering his history dating back to the Fantastic Four comics. This could be a perfect time for Marvel to introduce him, as they work to regain audience enthusiasm and loyalty.
Let me tell you, Doctor Doom is just a fantastic villain – truly one of the greats. Everyone at Marvel knows it, we fans certainly do, and apparently McFarlane Toys does too! They just dropped a 12-inch Doom action figure, maybe getting ready for a movie appearance, or just because he’s that awesome. Honestly, as a collector, I’m always happy to see a new figure like this!
I’m so excited – the new 12-inch McFarlane figure is up for pre-order at Walmart right now for $49.97! From what I’ve seen, shipping looks like it’ll be pretty fast, so we might have it in our hands soon!

This new action figure shows the supervillain standing confidently with crossed arms and a dramatic, flowing cape, with one foot casually resting on a castle brick. It’s 1:6 scale and comes with a detailed base and backdrop to create a scene straight from the comics. Fans will also appreciate the included art card, featuring a classic Doctor Doom comic cover on one side and a summary of the story on the other.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe prepares to introduce Doctor Doom, it’s a good time to get acquainted with the character. His most recent appearance in a movie was in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the follow-up to the 2005 Fantastic Four film. Actor Julian McMahon played Doom – you might remember him as Cole Turner from Charmed – and that was my first introduction to the character, for better or worse.
With Robert Downey Jr. taking on the role, I’m curious to see how it compares to previous versions. I anticipate this portrayal will be more impactful, likely because the Avengers will need to use all their strength to defeat him. The movie is coming out soon, and then we can all share our opinions. But for now, let’s talk about the Doctor Doom figure from McFarlane Toys.
If you’re like me and love collecting McFarlane Toys, the best way to know about all the new releases is to check out their Gear Page regularly. That’s where I go to stay informed!
