The director of DOOM: The Dark Ages has hinted that the game’s next downloadable content will be surprisingly substantial. It’s been about a year since id Software released the latest DOOM game, and while details have been scarce, the studio has consistently said they’ve been developing unannounced DLC. Now, before its official reveal, the director suggests this DLC will be almost like a whole new game.
In a recent live stream, DOOM: The Dark Ages director Huge Martin gave fans an update on the upcoming DLC. He explained that the team has been quiet about it not because of a lack of progress, but because the DLC is incredibly large – more like a full sequel to The Dark Ages than a typical expansion. While he didn’t announce a release date, Martin asked viewers to remain patient for more information.
“Wow, it’s massive,” Martin exclaimed. “I know you’ve all been waiting for the DLC after the main game for a while now, and I want you to know it’s really, really big. It’s almost like we made a whole new game – that’s how much content there is!”
New Weapons Coming to DOOM: The Dark Ages

Beyond its size, Martin also revealed a few details about the upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages DLC. He hinted that it will offer a completely different gameplay experience than the original game, and that his gameplay during the stream would reflect this difference.
In addition to other updates, Martin announced a new spear weapon coming in the Dark Ages DLC. While details are still limited, the weapon seems to work with a new move that lets players leap or dash. He also emphasized that this DLC will be very challenging, offering a tough experience for dedicated fans.
I was really hoping we’d get a reveal soon, but Martin said that’s not happening just yet. It looks like we’ll probably have to wait a few more months to find out what’s next for DOOM: The Dark Ages – which is a bit disappointing, but I’ll be patient!
