Fans have a lot to look forward to in 2026! Following the Genki Dama Matsuri, a celebration of the manga’s 40th anniversary, it’s been confirmed that a new anime, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, is coming out in Fall 2026. This anime will remake the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods story. Plus, Dragon Ball Super is returning to animate the Galactic Patrol Saga from the manga, which wasn’t adapted before. The original Dragon Ball Super anime ended in 2018 after the Tournament of Power, leaving plenty of manga content still available. Details about the new anime are limited right now, and while the franchise will be at AnimeJapan 2026, they won’t be making any big announcements there.
AnimeJapan is a huge anime and manga convention, known for big announcements from leading studios. This year’s event will feature over 120 exhibitors, including major companies like Aniplex, KADOKAWA, TOHO animation, and Bandai Namco Filmworks. According to the official AnimeJapan website, the Dragon Ball exhibit at Toei Animation will showcase previously released posters and trailers. While unexpected announcements are always possible, there’s no confirmation of anything new at this time.
Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol Takes Goku and Vegeta on a New Adventure
The Galactic Patrol Saga, sometimes called the Moro Arc, centers on Goku and Vegeta teaming up with the Galactic Patrol to stop Moro. Moro is a powerful, ancient wizard who has been imprisoned for millions of years and now escapes to devour planets. He’s one of the strongest villains the heroes have ever faced, pushing Goku and Vegeta to reach new levels of strength before they can finally recapture him.
The story is relatively short, with only 26 chapters, so the anime will likely be a single, concise season. While there’s no official release date yet, it’s probably coming next year. Because the announcement is recent and the season will largely adapt the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus movie, don’t expect any big reveals before the second half of 2026.
The Dragon Ball Super Manga Is Still on Hiatus
Despite a lot of exciting news this year, there’s still no word on when the manga will continue. It’s been two years since it was put on hold. While Toyotaro released a special chapter in February 2025, the regular monthly releases haven’t started up again yet.
Since the manga is just paused, not canceled, there’s still a chance it will continue, even after Toriyama’s passing. However, it will likely take a significant amount of time for the new artist to resume work, as they have a difficult task following in Toriyama’s footsteps and continuing the story he started.
