Fans can once again watch Beth and Rip Dutton in the new Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch. This series follows the couple as they build a life together in South Texas.

Despite wanting a happy and peaceful life after all they’ve endured, letting go of the past is proving difficult, according to Kelly Reilly, who co-leads the show, in an interview with TopMob.

She described happiness as something difficult to grasp and hold onto, explaining that she explored this idea in her portrayal of Beth in Yellowstone. She focused on moments where Beth expressed a desire for simple pleasures – like being alone with Rip, a meadow, and whiskey – and used those desires to shape Beth’s journey. She wanted to show Beth experiencing these things and discovering whether they truly brought her happiness.

Ultimately, this is a story about a woman coming to terms with who she is after a profound loss. She’s grieving her father and simultaneously discovering a new version of herself. She’s questioning her identity – what remains of herself now that her father is gone and the struggle to protect him is over? I found her uncertainty and inner conflict really compelling.

I hadn’t seen this side of her before, and it felt genuinely real.

When will Dutton Ranch episode 3 be out on Parmount+?

The third episode of Dutton Ranch, called “Act of God Business,” will be available on Paramount+ on Friday, May 22, 2026. In this episode, Beth continues to assess her new rival, Beulah, who is portrayed by Annette Bening.

You know, even though these characters are enemies, what really struck me is how much they actually do have in common. Reilly pointed that out, and it totally makes sense when you think about it. It adds a really interesting layer to their conflict, seeing those shared traits.

The actor explained to TopMob that her character comes from a powerful Texas family with a strong reputation to uphold. Because of this, Beth understands her opponent, though they approach things in very different ways. They cautiously test each other out, but ultimately share a surprising level of respect.

Beth has moved past focusing on the past. Now, she’s completely dedicated to protecting her loved ones. Despite being rivals, the two families – the Duttons, Wheelers, and Jacksons, including Beth, Rip, and Carter – actually rely on each other. As neighbors, it’s still uncertain whether they’ll be able to cooperate.

Reilly went on to tease “lots of secrets” that will naturally come into play.

We don’t fully understand each other, which creates a lot of mystery. However, Beulah and Beth are headed for a major confrontation.
