Robert Irwin is waltzing away from the rumor mill.
During the recent 20th anniversary celebration of Dancing With the Stars on November 11th, a close dance between the contestant and Xochitl Gomez led to rumors of a romance. When asked about the speculation, he skillfully avoided answering the question.
Robert told TMZ that performing a jive dance with the Marvel actress was a highlight of the show. He said they had a fantastic time and the dance was really enjoyable.
The 21-year-old said it was a welcome change to perform upbeat dances with Xochitl, a past winner of Dancing With the Stars who returned for a special anniversary show. This came after he’d performed a slower foxtrot honoring his late father, Robert Irwin, with his professional partner Witney Carson and his sister, Bindi Irwin, earlier in the program.
“It was great performing two very different dances,” Robert said. “One was really slow and emotional, and the other, with Xochitl, was all about energy and having fun.”
He added, “She’s the best, it’s been really, really great.”
Robert isn’t saying whether or not he and Xochitl are dating, but he’s happy to talk about how much he enjoyed dancing with her on season 32 of the ABC show.
He had previously described how they prepared for their performance on November 11th, sharing details about their training during the week before.

Robert shared with Deadline that Xochitl brings incredible energy, fun, and passion to their partnership. He explained they have a natural connection when working on the jive, prioritizing enjoyment before focusing on technical details like pointed toes with Witney’s help.
Witney, 32, shared that Xochitl, 19, and Robert clearly had a lot of fun together. She jokingly mentioned feeling older than ever while watching them record in the studio.
There was a lot of laughter and a bit of delightful chaos,” the choreographer explained. “But they’re incredibly dedicated and ultimately, they delivered.
