A recent look at Sam Raimi’s upcoming film, Send Help, shows Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams managing to smile even though their characters are in a desperate situation. The survival thriller centers on Linda (McAdams) and her annoying boss, Bradley (O’Brien), who are stranded on an island after being the only people to survive a plane crash.
Screen Rant has revealed a new image from the upcoming 2026 film Send Help. The photo shows Linda and Bradley happily sitting together on a beach. They’ve built a simple shelter using materials found on the island, and Bradley is holding a walking stick while Linda fixes her shoe. Despite being survivors, they seem to be adjusting well, as evidenced by the shelter and the pile of fruit nearby. You can see the image below.
The warm connection between Linda and Bradley in the picture is very different from what’s shown in the Send Help trailer. The trailer starts with Bradley telling his employee she’s worthless, daring her to prove him wrong during a work trip, and making fun of her.
Following the plane crash, their relationship dramatically changes. She seems pleased that Bradley is now experiencing the same difficult boss situation she did, and she takes control, playfully tormenting him – scenes even show her covered in blood. This suggests the footage is from shortly after the crash, before their conflict fully intensifies.
Send Help marks Sam Raimi’s return to horror directing after a 14-year hiatus, following his 2009 film, Drag Me to Hell. While Raimi is well known for his work in the horror genre, particularly the Evil Dead series, his new movie differs from those earlier films. Send Help won’t focus on supernatural scares like Evil Dead did.
Sam Raimi told Entertainment Weekly that he decided to direct the movie because of the interesting characters, how their relationships changed, and the film’s unique and exciting concept. You can read his full thoughts below:
As a film fan, I was really drawn to Linda and Bradley. They felt so real – flawed, complicated people who were constantly bumping heads, and their conflicts just felt incredibly natural and believable.
The idea for the film was incredibly unique and bold, and I was immediately drawn in by the story of these two characters and how their relationship shifted. I instantly knew I wanted to be the director.
Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the script. They’re also known for their work on the horror films Freddy vs. Jason (2003) and Friday the 13th (2009).
The upcoming 2026 film, Send Help, is already generating buzz, and its marketing campaign is particularly clever. A promotional video shows Linda auditioning for Survivor, while Bradley discovers and playfully mocks it. This fun setup hints at Linda’s impressive survival abilities, which will give her an edge over Bradley when they find themselves stranded on an island.
Send Help releases in theaters on January 30.
